Olivia Connelly
Director, BA, DipEd, GCertEdSt
Olivia inaugurated Gameplan, a language, literacy and learning practice, in 2008 to support children, adolescents and adults with language, literacy and numeracy needs who appeared to be falling through the cracks of the education system. Olivia became a secondary teacher in 2002 and completed a Graduate Diploma in Education specialising in Learning Disabilities in 2005. She has worked as a specialist teacher for students with language learning challenges since then. Olivia became a consultant member with Learning Difficulties Australia (LDA) in 2006 and is also a current member of the LDA Consultant’s Committee.
Olivia’s passion for education and learning began when she was 16 and suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of a car accident. Olivia’s head injury resulted in a learning disability and she discovered first-hand what it was like for children in schools who struggle to learn. Olivia now shares her knowledge and understanding with children, adolescents, parents, teachers, allied health professionals and anyone else who wants to listen.
Olivia spends most of her time juggling work and parenting her two beautiful children but wouldn’t have it any other way. Except for a bit more sleep perhaps.
