Amy is a Speech-Language Pathologist with Gameplan. She has a strong academic background, having completed a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and Sociology) at Swinburne University, a Masters in Speech Pathology at La Trobe University, and a PhD in the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Melbourne. Amy’s doctoral research focused on the emergence of stuttering and language development in young children.
Prior to joining the team at Gameplan, Amy has worked for more than a decade as a Senior Researcher and Project Officer at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, and at the Centre for Community Child Health at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. Consequently, Amy has a strong commitment to evidence-based practice and continues in her research role alongside her work at Gameplan.
Amy’s research interests include typical and delayed communication skills in young children, oral language and reading instruction, and the implementation of evidence-based practice in schools in order to best support students with additional needs. Amy is passionate about enabling equitable access to education and ensuring all children receive the support they need to maximise their learning and development. At Gameplan, Amy is keen to focus upon working with primary school aged children in the areas of language and literacy.
Amy is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist registered with Speech Pathology Australia.
